Sir, I appreciate your extra effort to get me this darned thing, but I'm
embarrassed to say I was confused about what I was looking for and passed
that confusion along to you and to vint.
Most people refer to the longer, "restored" version, with still photos
inserted to represent Von Stroheim's original vision, as the "four-hour"
version. But I was hoping to find the shorter (two hours plus) version
that the studio actually released to the public. When I saw that NZBKing
reference to the "239-minute version," I failed to apply simple arithmetic
and read 239 as 2:39.
Maybe in a year or so, when my stupidity is forgotten by all who saw it,
I'll come back and ask for the two-hour-plus final version of the film.
(IMDB says it was in fact 2:20 in length.)
