If you've got enough slots on your ethernet card, or don't mind
stacking them, you might considerWD's MyCould drives. I've used
Thesus, Cisco, and Trend (all on the cheap end I admit) solely so I
could control the drives. The only one that's given me realible long
like is the Linksys Mediahub. It was sold as a 1T each, but works fine
with 2T for a total of 4. A newer Linksys media center failed within a
year.
After fighting for a while I just started pluging in whatever the best
discounted MyCloud is selling (wass 2T, now 3T for $150 US), have four
on their own router with the media hub. Never turned off, have their
own battery back up, been balanced this way for 3+ knock on fungus.
just sayin, got to old to f**k with a raid array since I got rid of my
scuzzy with it's 250 meg set up
