"Do not flood the group" references. There once was a time when
servers could be 'filled' and older material would be 'shoved out' as
one notorious poster (in another group) would attempt. Today most
servers reach back to posts nearly two years for binaries and 5+ for
text groups. No poster can 'shove out' anybody, although the spammers
seem dedicated to trying. Retention is so good that there are some
who now use Usenet to back-up their files!
For the majority of users, we lack the bandwidth to 'flood the group'.
So if Wink decides to share more, I'm happy. I try to download a
fraction of what is posted and share (in other groups) some of what I
find elsewhere. I look forward to posters sharing what they find, all
in the spirt of a dying, yet vibrant Usenet community that most
Internet users remain unaware.
