You don't mention an operating system, so I'll assume Windows, Linux,
or Mac OS X.

There are several good free editors.

I use AVIDEMUX the most.  Although there have been a few quirks recently,
over-all it works well, is easy to understand, and can do a lot of useful
things like correcting color balance (manually or automatically), convert
between nearly all video formats, etc.  There ia also an on-line forum
which supplies a reasonable amount of support: in some cases, better
than the commercial products like Nero that I have used.
