That same archive also contains a folder named "hl 14 (2) Marusya (only
24 pics - rare)". It is also a rehash of some of the images in set 14
Olga.
I remember when these images were originally posted by a non-hussy mafia
member. They came hard on the heels of the real set 14 and were met
with ridicule. Obviously, CD ignored the images. I searched my disks
of the era and apparently didn't save what seemed a bogus set either.
When I first saw those folders in that same archive, my thought was,
"Some guys will catalog every phony file that comes along." To be
honest, I didn't dwell over the images long enough to spot the unique
ones.
You list two of the images as non-authentic duplicates. My program
passes them so I examined the headers to see what caused your program to
reject them. The answer was in byte hex24. These images were saved
with a quality setting untypical of other LS images. The one had a
quality setting of 37(0x25), the other 24(0x18).
If they are remakes, then the original files had to come from the real
set 14. Starting with those files and using the same software from the
same era I tried to duplicate them. Neither baseline nor progressive
jpgs matched them in size or body content. Then I noticed they differed
in sharpness, the supposed remakes being the sharper of the two. I
still was unable to duplicate them by sharpening and the sharpening
process had a pronounced effect on the logo as well.
It is possible that some of these images were released independent of
the web site. The forums were busy at the time and there have been
instances where corrected images or images without logos were released
due to complaints. Not having taken part in any forums, or even
visiting any web sites, I cannot know any of this for a fact. It's all
supposition on my part based on heresay.
I presume you will at some point release your own csvs for LS. You may
include these unique files or not at your own discretion. My own stated
goal, which I will reiterate, is to catalog the best state of the web
site I can. I find no record these files were ever on it.
