I'll take the spammers over the flamers any day - those guys who come
onto a group looking to disrupt and destroy it. They will pick a fight
over the smallest of things, whether it is a difference of opinion
about which program is best for whatever purpose - or even the
identity of a model or a celebrity. When I first got here, I was happy
to hear advice and opinions; and when someone took the time to offer
me advice, I would at least try what was suggested. Either way,
nothing on the groups seemed worth going to war over. I will always
say that the best reception I ever received was on a group by and for
goth kids, most of them in their teens and many still in high school.
I was curious what they were about and I tried to enter into their
conversation respectfully. They always treated me well and answered my
posts with the same level of respect. Those kids had more class than
many adults.
