Ah yes. That one was a test post, a throwaway. I knew there were going
to be some problems there for some people.
There were 1141 photos in that post. I just sucessfully downloaded 1129
of them. There are 12 pics that won't come in despite repeated attempts,
but I've only checked one server so far.
The reason you only got 560 files is because your newsreader is either
misconfigured or incapable of dealing with duplicate filenames.
You must explicitly tell your newsreader what to do when the server
sends it a file that has the same filename as a file that already exists
in your download directory.
Let's say you have a file named XYZ.JPG in your download directory, and
the news server sends you *another* file named XYZ.JPG.
Your newsreader needs to know what to do, because it is being asked to
create a file that already exists.
Good newsreaders can be configured for this situation, so they will know
whether to skip the file, overwrite the existing file, or write the new
file with a different filename, which is what you want.
Bad newsreaders don't give you the option and will just overwrite the
existing file with the new one.
So if the news server sends you 10 different pictures all named XYZ.JPG,
you will only end up with one photo because the other nine have been
overwritten.
This is what has happened to you, so you need to either reconfigure your
your newsreader to deal with duplicate filenames, or get a better
newsreader.
