Ok,
As per a prior post - I've been away from this for awhile, so please
go easy on me if I [messed] this up... :)
I'm on a quest to get "favorite" roms from my old rom set (circa
2011ish) up and running in the latest mame versions.
Larry L suggested ClrMame Pro / fixdats as the best/preferred way to
to do this - so I have gone and given it a (preliminary) shot...
In an effort to keep things contained and at a minimum - I isolated a
few roms I knew weren't working - and did a scan with ClrMame.
I hope I filtered correctly: getting rid of all "totally missing" roms
/ keeping only the missing roms from the isolated set.
I then exported the fixdat.
As it is text itself - I went in and removed some machines that it
added that I didn't have in this isolated set (i.e. it wanted to
include 3wonders - which I wasn't expecting/am not looking to have
right now.)
The fixdat file appears to now be targetting exactly what I was
expecting (zombieraid, sf2, etc.)
Anyway - hopefully I got this right... and MANY thanks to whoever
gives it a shot and fills the request*!
-DS-
*... or explains how I got it wrong, should that be the case.
