I think you just need to repack the file to get the version right.
It's about how chdman made the CHD, not about the data that's in the
CHD. Something like this:
chdman extractld -i your\existing\v4\cubeqst.chd -o temp.ld
chdman createld -i temp.ld -o the\new\v5\cubeqst.chd
Or maybe not? But it won't cost you any bandwidth to try, just ~60 GB
of disk space temporarily. I remember having the same version-mismatch
problem and I think I solved it this way... but I'm not certain of
that. It's been a while.
Failing that, do you have access to alt.binaries.emulators.mame.chd? I
could post cubeqst.chd there. But it's a 10.6 GB file, and having seen
how my uploads fare, I would have to post it over the course of
several days.
Historically I have gotten some CHD (and ROM) fills via
emuparadise.me. But the cubeqst.chd they have there
(https://tinyurl.com/y8hzxee4) is listed as being 19 GB, so it's
probably not what you need anyway. (Is your v4 CHD 19 GB?)
