Notes on Shota.txt
First thing First: Japanese is read from right to left, therefore comic book panels also are read from left to right. If you think the progression of the story doesn't seem right, then you're probably reading it the English way -- which is absolutely backwards! In fact, if these were actual books or magazines, you'd pick it up, turn it over to what would be the back of comics here in the US, and read from the right page to the left page all the way to what would be the front! The funny thing is that they think we're strange for reading from left to right!

Shotacon or shotakan is a type of Japanese sex comix or Hentai that focuses on young boys. The boys may be sexually active with other boys, girls, men or women or any combination, although I prefer to denote those that involve boys and girls as mixed shota & loli, personally. Sexual acts may be consensual or nonconsensual and can include b&d, s&m, forced feminization, futanari (also known as "futa," chicks with dicks), "scat" which may run from the simple pee play commonly found among boys to more extreme forms involving other bodily funcions such as excretion and vomiting, etc; (living in the glass house as I do, I will not throw bricks at anyone who like such extreme things, but I should like to point out that it can get quite smelly!) bestiality and pretty much anything else that can be involved with sex, including violence and bodily harm.

With the young ones, it can be difficult to tell whether a story involves futa or forced feminization; in the latter, boys are forced, or sometimes allowed, to wear girls' clothing and behave in traditionally female ways, often acting as maids and such. However, it is clear that adult futa have developed breasts and tend to be true hermaphrodites with both a penis and a vagina, so if a "girl" has a penis, I guess you have to look to see if the Japanese have sensored out the vagina!

As an aside, it is interesting that the Japanese have all these comics when they cannot actually show the actual penis or vagina in their porn, including these comic books! They can show every thing else -- breasts, testicles, anus, even analingus!

Similarly, lolicon, lolikan or roricon refers to Hentai that focuses on little girls. There is also the infamous toddlercon that focuses on toddlers, generally girls.

Another interesting phenomena is "nekomimi" or cat-girls. Cat-girls frequently have cat ears and a tail on an otherwise human body. They sometimes accent their differences by wearing gloves and boots that look like cat paws. This has, of course, crossed over in many ways so that you sometimes see dog-girls or mixes of other mammals commonly referred to as "kemonomimi." And, it has also crossed over into shotacon, so that you now may see cat-boys, bunny-boys and whatnot. But, since the cats were first, this is most commonly called "neko."

The last type I want to mention is furry. "Furry" refers to hentai involving werewolves, anthropomorphised animals or even totally imaginary animals such as "pokemon" and "digimon." The furries involved don't necessarily just have sex with other furries, but with people as well, depending on the book. I saw a very nice yaoi book that was centered around the werewolf in human form feeling disgusted with himself as he began acting like his new boy-friend was the alpha wolf!

Final notes: it is interesting that the word "hentai" in Japanese generally means sexual perversion or, informally, as an insult meaning "pervert." The Japanese word "echhi," which is how they orally spell the letter "H," refers to sexual content or behavior, which is pretty much how the Western world uses the word "hentai."

And Just for Fun: Hentai seems to have a particular fascination with extremely large breasts and lactation!

I do not claim to be any kind of expert on the subject, these notes are the product of my observation and modest research (I looked at wikipedia!).
