These have come from many sources over the years, and there is a great
deal of confusion over file names, etc. This is a result of several
factors:
• I believe at least two separate scans were made by different people
from the original images. One set was given file names starting with
"kalos" while the other -- made, I believe, by Lohmüller himself -- was
named with a system starting with "wk*". There may have been more.
• Over the years, many of the files have been renamed and reposted.
• Also, regrettably, some of the files have been tinkered with in some
way, especially being reduced or "blown up" in size. Obviously,
increasing the size of a digital photo does NOT improve the image
quality (though perhaps the picture is easier to see for the visually
challenged).
I've made a little modest effort to eliminate obvious duplication --
that is, multiple copies of the same image under different file names.
But for the most part, I've just kept everything. The differences
between the "kalos" and "wk" series -- differences in color tone as
well as image size and sharpness -- are kind of interesting. Also,
some of the renamed images have dropped the original file names but
picked up, from somewhere, the name of the models, which is also
interesting. Some have both.
My general feeling about sharing images (and music and everything else)
is that, where possible, the maximum amount of information should be
preserved. So in that spirit, please enjoy this collection.
Someday, perhaps someone will make the heroic effort to bring order to
this whole body of wonderful images.
