When you first installed PowerPost it came setup with a template on
it's subject line. The template & how it's used confuses many first
time users of PowerPost.
Try this:
First select 2 files to post. When you hilight them & click the open
button, a window opens up with a subject line & below it, an
explanation of the various template variables you can use. Delete
everything on the subject line for this sample post.
You were trying to post some Don Marcus files so here's what you do.
1) enter Don Marcus on the subject line then a blank space.
2) after the blank space enter $F then another blank space.
The $F will post the actual filename whatever it happens to be.
3) enter [$1 of $2] Include the spaces as I have them here.
The $1 will be the file counter & the $2 will give the total
number of files you're posting. The brackets are just used as
separators to keep things nice & tidy looking. You don't really need
to use the brackets or you can use ( ) instead. Either just
makes things easier to read.
Your subject line should look like this:
Don Marcus $F [$1 of $2]
Go ahead & post them to see what the outcome looks like.
After you've done that, Start PowerPost again, delete those 2 files
and add 3 different Don Marcus files. This time, you shouldn't even
have to touch the subject line. It should still be the same.
Post those 3 to see what the outcome looks like.
Once you've done that, repeat the process once more posting 4 pics
from some other folder & just change the name of Don Marcus to
whatever name of the other photog is & post those. Leave the $F & the
rest as they are for now.
Now, if you look at the template explanation below the subject line
for a minute you should be better able to understand what each of
those template variables do. You can put them in any order you want.
For example: you could put [$1 of $2] first follwed by the $F. The
$F is really the only variable you need to use on the subject line. If
you do post more than 1 file at a time though it makes it a hell of a
lot easier for everyone if you include the file counters so they know
how many files you've posted.
If you also wanted to include the actual directory name that's on your
drive you can include the $D on the subject line also (usually before
the $F). I don't recommend doing that though for your own privacy.
Now you can experiment with the other variables as you wish but
they're really not needed & just clog up the subject line.
